Yes, context shapes meaning. A card in isolation carries its general meaning. A card next to another card may be modified, extended, contrasted, or confirmed by its neighbour. The relationship between cards is where much of the nuance lives.
What if two cards seem to contradict each other?
Contradiction in a spread is rarely a problem, it is usually information. Two opposing cards often describe a tension that is already present in the situation, or two parts of the situation that are genuinely in conflict.
How do I know which cards to combine?
