The Three Card Spread
Three positions, one arc. The classic framing is past, present, and future, but the same layout reads as situation, action, and outcome just as well.
The three positions
- Past: what the situation was built on
- Present: where it actually sits today
- Future: the direction it leans if nothing changes
Other framings
Choose the framing before you shuffle, not after. Situation, action, and outcome suits a decision. Mind, body, and spirit suits a check in. What helps, what hinders, what to carry suits a stuck patch.
The third card is a direction, never a verdict. It describes a tendency you can still change.
